Progressive Faith Blog Carnival!

What's a traditional gal like me doing in a progressive faith blog carnival like this? See my explanation below.

I invite you to take part in the Progressive Faith Blog Carnival, which insha-Allah I'll be hosting on February 12th.

As the organizers say, 'Faith and politics have the capacity to profoundly divide, or to profoundly connect. Progressive Faith BlogCon is a chance for progressive bloggers of faith to meet one another, talk with one another, and learn from one another.

Our progressive politics are rooted in our theologies, and our theological stances inform our politics; why not celebrate them together?'

I would love to see a strong Muslim presence at the Carni and I invite blogers of all faiths to help broaden the definition of progressive, diversify the pool of participants, & show that concern about human & social issues is not at odds with sincere belief but is, rather, an integral part of it.

The criteria to be included is simply your best post on faith, socioeconomic, or political issues since January 1, 2006. And, please spread the word!

What the heck is a Blogging Carnival?

Carnivals are a great way to learn about new blogs & to let others know about yours.

Umm Yasmin hosted a Muslim blogging carni last year called State of the Ummah (which I hope will be reinstated when she has time) from which I am quoting some lucid explanations:

A blogging carnival is a regular or semi-regular forum where bloggers nominate posts, typically centred around a particular theme or fulfilling certain requirements, to a specified blog. When the due date is up, the Carnival host then collects & sorts the posts and creates an uber-post of links for Carnival members and interested visitors to surf. How to participate:

Please submit your blog entry link to truthnbeauty AT gmail DOT com to participate. To make sure spam filters don’t pick it up, please type “Carnival Post” in the headline. In your email please include:

* The name of your blog with a link
* The title of your submitted post and a link to the post
* A couple of sentences to describe your submitted post (which may be edited by the host).

The deadline for submission is: 11:59PM, Friday, February 10, 2006, Greenwich Mean
